But there are indications from the Reserve Bank Governor suggest it may not remain stagnant for much longer.
Adrian Orr says the outlook for the economy remains intact with employment levels sustainable.
In his statement, he says CPI inflation is likely to increase in the near term due to higher fuel prices, with inflation expected to gradually rise to their two percent annual target.
Adrian Orr says they're well positioned to manage a change in direction - up or down - as necessary.
