One of the Kiwis recent debutants has been ruled out for the rest of the NRL season

    - article from www.rugbyleague.co.nz

Newcastle Knights hooker Slade Griffin has suffered a serious knee injury during their 36-16 loss to the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Griffin will be forced to undergo an Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction, which will be the fourth of his career.

The news gets worse for Newcastle, with fullback Kalyn Ponga out for three to four weeks with a hamstring strain.

Ponga will now miss Queensland's final State of Origin match.
