The Ministry of Education says it's disappointed NZEI members have rejected its pay offers while negotiations are ongoing

Primary teachers and principals have voted to stop work for three hours on August 15, and may extend the action to a full day.
The Ministry says its offer sees trained teachers' base salaries increase between 6.1 -14.7 percent over three years meaning the beginner teacher rate would increase to $50,280 a year, rising to $55,030 in 2020.
It would also see increases for principals of between 6-11 percent putting the starting base remuneration for the principal of a school of 50 or fewer students up to $92,873 in 2020.
The Ministry says it will continue its s negotiations with NZEI over the coming weeks.
