DHBs have been planning for the strike action for three months

Capital and Coast District Health Board chief medical officer Dr John Tait says the impact of absent nurses should not be underestimated.
He says there'll be huge cuts to non-essential procedures.
An estimated six-to-eight thousand elective procedures are being deferred due to this strike and the previous threatened strike.
