Coach Clark Laidlaw has been able to name nine of his 12 Commonwealth Games gold medallists for next week's tournament in San Francisco.
In selecting the side, Laidlaw was conscious that the world cup is a straight knock-out competition rather than a group format.
He says because they're not playing as many games each day they've been able to pick Salesi Rayasi and Joe Ravouvou, instead of just one of them.
Gold Coast gold medallists Sam Dickson and Etene Nanai-Seturo weren't considered for selection due to injuries, while playmaker Vilimoni Koroi wasn't picked as he's taking a break before playing for Otago in the Mitre 10 Cup.
The inclusion of Ruby Tui is the only change to the Black Ferns Sevens squad that won on the Gold Coast.
