The Crusaders front rower will miss Saturday's Super Rugby match against the Blues in Christchurch, after picking up a knee injury in the win over the Highlanders.
Coach Scott Robertson says they're yet to have confirmation on how long Moody will be without for.
He says they've fast tracked everything they can to try get Moody back, and is optimistic.
All Blacks Owen Franks, Codie Taylor and Scott Barrett have been rested this week.
Loose forward Jordan Taufua is back at blindside flanker, while Israel Dagg will get a crack at fullback at the expense of David Havili.
Mitchell Drummond's been given the nod at halfback ahead of Bryn Hall.
