The NZ Transport Agency says it is working to re-open the section of State Highway 2 affected by a slip in the Waioeka Gorge 24hrs a day from Wednesday afternoon

The NZ Transport Agency says it is working to re-open the section of State Highway 2 affected by a slip in the Waioeka Gorge 24hrs a day from Wednesday afternoon

Since the initial slip came down on June 24, contractors have built a new lane to shift the road further away from the face of the slip site.

Over the next few days they are finishing off the installation of barriers and fences before the road re-opens 24/7 next week.

The road will only be operating between 6:45am and 4:30pm until Wednesday..
