A man has appeared in Hamilton District Court following a police search warrant looking for suspects in the death of Mitchell Paterson

Paterson's body was found at McLaren Falls, near Tauranga, on Friday.

Police searched a Pohutukawa Drive address on Sunday, and arrested James Lee Green who is charged with helping to dispose of the body.

Fifty two-year-old Leon Colin Wilson was found with a sawn-off shotgun at the property, and appeared in court today.

Wilson pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a sawn-off shotgun, but will defend a charge of pointing it at police officers during the search warrant.

The 52-year-old has not been charged in relation to Mitchell Paterson's murder.
