Mahe Drysdale remains determined to reclaim New Zealand's men's single sculls seat for the Tokyo Olympics and hopes the rules remain the same for next year's selection battle

Robbie Manson will again be the country's single sculler at this year's world championships, after convincingly beating the double Olympic champion at the world cup regatta in Lucerne.

Trials in March previously decided the seat, but Drysdale says this way you have to perform throughout the international season.

He's welcomed Rowing New Zealand being less rigid.

Drysdale says it's a better system and it's good for Rowing NZ to be flexible and treat boats differently.

Mahe Drysdale still hopes to row at this year's world championships.

He's putting his hand up to row in a crew boat at the worlds in September before returning his attentions to the singles sculls.
