Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson are riding a "magical wave of bliss together"

The 24-year-old pop star and the American actor recently shocked the world when they announced their engagement after only a few weeks of dating, but according to Pete's tattoo artist, the high-profile couple are head-over-heels in love with each other.

Jon Mesa, the co-owner of the No Idols Tattoo shop in New York City,

explained: "They are just riding that magical wave of bliss together.

It's obvious that Pete is super in love with Ariana."

Pete, 24, recently turned to Jon in a bid to have a tattoo of ex-girlfriend Cazzie David covered up.

At the time, Jon sounded a note of caution about the perils of love - but the young star didn't pay much attention.

Speaking to the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column, Jon

recalled: "I did a huge coverup [adding a forest of trees] ... After we were done, I told Pete, 'Hey, dude, let's just stop with the girlfriend tats until after [Grande's] your wife'.

"Because relationships come and go, and Pete is a really young man.

[But] I think that went in one ear and out the other."

Meanwhile, Pete recently admitted he feels like he's won a contest following his engagement to the brunette beauty, who has previously dated the likes of Big Sean and Nathan Sykes.

During an appearance on the 'Tonight Show', host Jimmy Fallon joked:

"Now, you know, that you didn't have to get engaged to Ariana Grande to come on our show."

But Pete - who is a cast member on 'Saturday Night Live' - replied: "I did though. I feel like I won a contest. I'm f**king lit, Jimmy. It's so lit."
