Sam Claflin thinks fate brought him together with his wife

The 31-year-old actor - who has a two-year-old son called Pip and a daughter, who was born in January this year, with Laura Haddock - met his wife in serendipitous circumstances while he was auditioning for a role in the 2011 drama 'My Week with Marilyn'.

Sam - who was auditioning for the role of Colin Clark, which was ultimately handed to Eddie Redmayne - recalled: "It was an audition ... I'll still never forgive Eddie Redmayne for stealing the part. But I did meet my wife, so I can't complain.

"It was for the film 'My Week with Marilyn' and it was like my fourth recall, I was always reading with the same girl, same girl ... and this one time, this one particular recall, my now-wife was sat there. Beautiful. I mean, honestly, Hollywood ... stunning."

Despite not even knowing her name, Sam immediately fell in love with Laura, who has starred in the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' franchise and as Kacie Carter in 'Honest'.

During an appearance on ITV's 'This Morning', Sam explained: "I, in that moment, knew that I wanted to marry her and I called my agent and told him, 'That's the woman I'm going to marry.' He said, 'No, how did the audition go?' I was like, 'No no , you don't understand. This is fate.' I didn't even remember her name at the time. I do now."

Meanwhile, Sam recently admitted that parenthood has caused his priorities to change.

The handsome actor revealed he now spends less time working out because he wants to spend quality time with his children.

He said: "Pip wakes us up about 6am or 7am - he's a good sleeper and we know we're lucky with that. One of us has to shower while the other is getting him breakfast, then it's straight into playtime. Pip started nursery recently and thinks he knows everything. We have two toy cockapoos, Rosie and Maisie, who are also very demanding of our attention.

"Breakfast might be scrambled eggs with chorizo on sourdough. I'll usually make a big pot of coffee while Laura drinks tea. It doesn't take me long to get ready - I basically use deodorant, that's it. I'm just not a moisturising kind of guy.

"I have very basic shampoos and shower gels - it's Laura who buys all the nice stuff. And I don't do all that much exercise. When I can, I go for a run, but I'd rather spend that hour with Pip."
