Kim Basinger and Priscilla Presley were among the stars protesting against Korea's dog meat trade during a demonstration in Los Angeles

According to TMZ.com, Kim, 64, was spotted holding up a photo of dead dogs that had been skinned and hung up on hooks, whilst Priscilla joined in with other protesters - including Donna D'Errico and EG Daily - in holding actual dead dogs who had been recently euthanised and provided by a local LA vet for "shock factor."

Kim spoke to TMZ at the event, and said she hopes a "miracle" will happen as a result of their protest, which was held by the Last Chance for Animals group and also had demonstrations taking place in DC, and the South Korean capital Seoul.

She said: "You know, I have seen miracles happen when we get together in numbers, and you make it known to the public. I think everything is about education and awareness, I really do. And pressure, really pressure."

The dog meat trade has been a part of Korean culture for generations, but Kim insists the younger generation within the country will be the ones to make a change.

The 'Batman' star added: "But I think people have to understand that in South Korea right now, it's really the truth that the older generation are the ones that have been really about dog consumption for food, forever. And the younger generations now, they have their companion animals that they adore and love, so they are no longer looking at dogs as livestock. And that's the problem with the South Korean government. It's the only nation that allows dogs for companion animals and then raises dogs for consumption.

"I totally understand that [it's a culture thing], and that's why I brought up the younger generations. I think they are going to wipe this thing out. Dogs are companion animals, we should cherish them. They are not ... it's just wrong. There's right and wrong in this world, and that is wrong."
