Wilson Parking's being taken to court by the Commerce Commission
20 July 2018
The Commission alleges the parking company substantially lessened competition for car parking in the Boulcott Street area by buying Capital Car Park in central Wellington.
The Commission gave Wilson Parking clearance to buy Plimmer Towers car park on Boulcott Street in 2015.
At the time, it said competition would be provided by the Capital car park.
But in 2016,Wilson acquired a long-term lease on the Capital car park without applying for clearance - and the Commission says it's now getting complaints about price increases.
