Janine Southby has stepped down as head coach of the Silver Ferns in the wake of Netball New Zealand's Independent Review of their disastrous 2018 Commonwealth Games campaign
20 July 2018
The review found that a combination of factors contributed to the poor performance of the team, including a lack of depth and experience across the board.
The review highlighted that both Southby and assistant coach Yvette McCausland-Durie were inexperienced at international level and were too similar, lacking complementary skill-sets.
Netball New Zealand CEO Jennie Wylie says Southby was an integral part of the review process.
Wyllie says Southby's also a part of their netball family and they want to keep her involved in netball and they wish her all the best in the future.
Netball New Zealand have started the hunt for a new head coach, with a squad to be named next month ahead of September's home Quad Series.
