Auckland boatie ordered to pay 17.5 thousand dollars to diver he seriously injured
An Auckland boatie has been ordered to pay 17-and-a-half thousand dollars to a diver he ran over in the water and seriously injured
23 July 2018
Carl Whiteman pleaded guilty in the North Shore District Court today to causing unnecessary danger or risk to another person.
Maritime NZ says Whiteman was speeding and was not keeping a proper look out.
The diver suffered significant lacerations to his head and arm and could not work for a year.
After considering the amount of reparation to be paid to the diver, the Court did not fine Whiteman.
