The Ruapehu Alpines Lifts CEO doesn't expect this morning's avalanche to deter visitors to the mountain
6 August 2018
The avalanche damaged the High Noon Express chairlift, after routine control
work to release a significant top layer of snow.
CEO Ross Copland says engineers are assessing the chairlift, but it shouldn't
be out of action for long.
He says if the damage is minor it should be back up and running this season.
No one was injured - but both upper mountain ski fields have been closed
today as a safety precaution.
