The lawyer of a murderer says his client suffered greatly after being held unlawfully in solitary confinement

Prisoner John Vogel will receive 10-thousand dollars in compensation from the
Government after having his human rights breached in 2000.
He was held in solitary confinement for 21 days ... six days longer than
legally allowed.
Lawyer Tony Ellis took the case to UN Committee Against Torture, which ruled
in Vogel's favour earlier this year.
He says it's the first time the Government has paid out on a UN committee
ruling.
