They accuse the lines company of failing to take any responsibility, saying it's refusing to cover thousands of dollars in insurance excess and other costs.
Ten houses in the Auckland suburb were hit by abnormally high voltage earlier this month due to a transformer fault.
Matt Smith says it "fried" appliances in his home, including a dishwasher, microwave, heated towel rail and automatic garage door opener.
Vector's told him to claim insurance, and indications are they'll get a pay out.
But Smith says the have to pay the 750 dollar excess and will lose no claims bonuses leaving them out of pocket by around a thousand dollars.
Other homes in the street are in a similar position.
