Church urges compassion
Anglican Church urges people to apply compassion to euthanasia debate- view opposes that of Catholic Church
15 March 2003
The Anglican Church is urging people to apply compassion to the euthanasia debate.
It has come out against the position of the Catholic Church, believing proposed euthanasia legislation has its place in society.
Anglican vicar Ian Lawton says the Christian message is not about needlessly enduring pain and suffering.
He also believes people cling to the idea that the timing of death is only for God to decide.
Reverend Lawton says society must always seek the most compassionate solution.
