Calls for more respect for essential workers
Calls for more respect for essential workers
27 April 2020
The Council of Trade Unions is asking for better fair pay agreements, following a comment made by an essential cleaner in osuth Auckland who was praised by the Prime Minister.
The worker responded to the praise by calling for a better living wage.
Council President Richard Wagstaff says essential workers deserve better rights and easier access to negotiating agreements.
He says it's clear now that without these workers we couldn't function, so we should value them instead of taking them for granted.
