Boxing champion in court
Maselino Masoe is learning about the realities of being a boxing champion as he faces a court case against his manager
25 May 2004
New WBA Middleweight champion Maselino Masoe and his manager Mike Edwards are off to court.
Masoe dropped Edwards as his manager just before he recently won the WBA middleweight title but Edwards is claiming a breach of his management and promotional contract.
Edwards' lawyer John Samuel says the pair cannot reach a compromise.
Samuel says a judicial settlement hearing brought no conclusion, so the matter will now be litigated.
Another hearing is yet to be scheduled.
Meanwhile, Masoe is yet to announce where or who he will defend his middleweight belt against.
