Rehabilitation possible for child porn accused
Bronwyn Rutherford fm Corrections Dept believes rehabilitation possible for child porn accused
22 February 2005
An expert in child sex offenders believes those caught up in New Zealand's largest ever child pornography crackdown can be rehabilitated.
Police have arrested 19 people and are speaking to others. Officers have seized 113 computers.
Principal Psychologist at the Department of Corrections Bronwyn Rutherford says many sex offenders are first exposed to child pornography. She says if those people are caught before they actively offend, they are usually more receptive to treatment.
