Police Internet scandal a warning to others

Businesses must be aware of material being used on networks says Internet Safety Gp as police investigated for porn images

    22 April 2005
The Internet Safety Group is welcoming the police action over Internet pornography within its own ranks.

Three hundred and 30 staff are under investigation after more than 5,000 images of objectionable material were found on police computers. They will face disciplinary action which could include dismissal.

Director of the Internet Safety Group Liz Butterfield says it is good to see the problem being tackled head on.

She says pornography is never appropriate in the work place and all businesses need to be aware of what material is being used on their network.

Ms Butterfield hopes other people will learn from the incident.
