Hosting of cricket world cup in question

India's hosting of 2011 world cup thrown into question - meanwhile Jacob oram takes it one step at a time

    5 October 2006
India's hosting of 2011's cricket world cup has been thrown into question.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is refusing to sign the Members Participation Agreement, despite other members in the process ready to put pen to paper.

The ICC has told India they must sign or risk losing hosting rights for the 2011 World Cup.

The agreement covers major ICC events for the period 2007-2015.

ICC president Percy Sonn says a failure to sign by India would throw the whole world cup tournament into doubt.

Meanwhile, injuries are the main topic of chatter among the Black Caps as they prepare to fly out to India on Saturday.

All rounder Jacob Oram is taking things one step at a time when it comes to next year's World Cup. Oram has been battling a string of injuries, the most recent a lower back injury. He is hoping to make it through a game unscathed.

Jacob Oram says given his recent history it is all about trying to make it through matches. Oram says coming off an injury is sometimes more mental than anything.

Shane Bond is looking forward to playing a big part in the Black Caps' Champions Trophy campaign in India, with the tournament underway over the weekend. He has been out of action since May, spending months recovering from a knee injury which saw him leave the team's tour of South Africa early.

He is in top shape, as rare as that may be. Shane Bond says it is always a battle for him to be 100 percent, but he is fine and is now keen to finally start playing again.
