Police investigating the death of Balclutha teenager Michael Hutchings have found traces of blood in his house.
The 18-year-old's body was discovered on Saturday on the edge of the Clutha River wrapped in a mattress cover and tied to two steel bars.
The weight of the bars and the significant holes drilled them have led police to believe they had been made to specifications.
Detective Inspector Ross Pinkham says the blood could mean he sustained the stab wounds that led to his death at his house.
Michael Hutchings' parents are intending to travel to New Zealand from Australia.
