Team Budget Forklifts full steam ahead

A great start for a relatively unknown Australian team in the Wellington Cycle classic beating NZ by just one second

    21 January 2009
A relatively unknown Australian team has won the opening stage of the Wellington Cycle Classic.

Team Budget Forklifts have finished the 8.8 kilometre team time trial in nine minutes and 38 seconds, beating New Zealand team Subway-Avanti by just one second. Team manager Jeremy Betts says it is a great result considering they only arrived in New Zealand late yesterday. Betts says it was a difficult windy afternoon but his team put on a great show.

As a result of the win, Budget Forklifts rider Jack Anderson will wear the leader's yellow jersey in tomorrow's stage.
