    Community helps grieving family

Community spirit is alive and well in Mangere where the family of a young man killed by police are coming to grips with their loss

    25 January 2009
Community spirit is alive and well in Mangere where the family of a young man killed by police are coming to grips with their loss.

Halatau Naitoko, aged 17, was caught in the crossfire of a police chase that ended on the Northwestern Motorway on Friday.

Mangere Community Advocate Peter Sykes says Mr Naitoko's family has received a great deal of support from the community over the past days. Mr. Sykes expects an influx of people to arrive at the family home tomorrow. He says Mr Naitoko's body will be returned to his family around four this afternoon.

A funeral service will be held at the family home in Mangere at 10 o'clock on Friday, and following that Mr Naitoko will be laid to rest at Mangere Lawn Cemetery.
