27 January 2009
Police are concerned about the number of both real and imitation guns being carried in the Counties Manukau region.
Shortly before four yesterday, police say a 16-year-old man armed with an imitation silver pistol held up a dairy on Tiraumea Drive in Pakuranga. The teen is accused of injuring two officers while trying to escape.
Area Commander Jim Searle says female officer has substantial bruising to much of her body, while a second officer has a broken hand and wasp stings as a result of the chase.
The offender will appear in court this morning charged with aggravated wounding, aggravated robbery and two charges of assault on police.
