    Rebecca Romijn’s motherly advice

Ana Ortiz has been getting pregnancy advice from her ‘Ugly Betty’ co-star Rebecca Romijn.

    24 February 2009
Rebecca Romijn has been giving her ‘Ugly Betty’ co-star Ana Ortiz pregnancy advice.

Ana – who is due to give birth to her first child in July – has turned to Rebecca, who has one-month-old twin girls, for tips on coping with the strain of carrying a child.

Ana said: "Rebecca has this favourite pillow that she told me about and also coconut water. I didn't know it had natural electrolytes in it. It's really good. She swears by that."

Ana, who plays Hilda Suarez in the hit US comedy, says the show’s producers have been working hard to carefully direct scenes to avoid showing off her baby bump – and have been hiding her behind props and other cast members.

She added to America’s OK! magazine: "My character wears such hoochie, cha-cha clothes, so it's going to be interesting to see that sort of adjustment. They're going to do more cleavage and more legs.

"Yesterday on set I actually did have to hide behind America Ferrera at one point. But luckily, my character works in a salon so I can kind of stand behind the big Queen's hair and tease it up really high."

The 37-year-old actress – who is married to musician Noah Lebenzon – says she is surprised by how her eating habits have changed.

She explained: "For me, I've always been a savoury person but now I'm just a total sweet tooth. If I see tiramisu, like I will knock you out of the way to get to it.

“Since they're hiding it on the show, I'm trying to maintain some dignity about eating anything I want. But it is fun. You do sort of have an excuse."
