    Mel Gibson linked to Britney

‘Lethal Weapon’ star Mel Gibson, whose wife Robyn has filed for divorce, has been romantically linked to a number of women in recent months including ‘Womanizer’ singer Britney Spears.

Mel Gibson has been romantically linked with six women - including Britney Spears.

The ‘Lethal Weapon’ star – whose wife of 28 years, Robyn Gibson, filed for divorce on Friday (10.04.09) – has been seen with a string of women over recent months, including the 27-year-old ‘Womanizer’ singer.

Marital tensions reportedly worsened when the 53-year-old actor let Britney use his Costa Rican home last year.

A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “Mel invited Britney to his estate to offer a place of respite. He also took her for dinner in Los Angeles. But the innuendo and whispers got to Robyn. She had to get out and this meant divorce.”

The Hollywood star – who is a devout Catholic – has been connected to a number of other beauties, including two Russian musicians called Oksana and two mystery brunettes.

On Friday – while his divorce was being filed due to “irreconcilable differences” – Mel was photographed frolicking with an unknown blonde in Costa Rica.

Another source said: "Mel was laughing and joking. He did not look at all worried or concerned. You would never have guessed he is going through what could be a very expensive divorce."

This comes just days after Russian pop star Oksana Pochepa claimed she is having a “serious” relationship with Mel.

The 24-year-old beauty said: “This is serious and I hope that our union will be real and strong and long-lasting.

“We are different people, but Mel is a grown man and knows precisely what he wants and me too – I know what I want.”

Classical pianist Oksana Kolesnikova admits she spent an evening “entertaining Mr. Gibson with her piano music” but insists they are not romantically involved.

The 31-year-old blonde says she is “happily married” and four months pregnant.

Last month, Mel was spotted kissing another female on a beach in Costa Rica, but her identity has not been confirmed.

Mel was spotted with a sixth woman on set of his new film ‘Edge of Darkness’ last summer.

Although the pair have only just gone public with their separation, it has been reported Robyn left Mel in 2006 - when he was arrested for drink-driving – but decided not to make the split official for the sake of their family.

Under US law, Robyn – who raises seven children with Mel, including nine-year-old Thomas – is expected to be granted half of the star’s £640 million fortune.
