The northern and central North Island, that's from Taranaki, Taihape and Hawkes Bay northwards Rain, with a few heavy falls, easing to showers early morning and clearing most places by afternoon, but a few showers continuing in western areas. Wanganui to Wellington, also Wairarapa Occasional showers clearing this morning, but returning north of Wellington by evening. Nelson and Marlborough. Mainly fine, but isolated showers this afternoon or evening. Canterbury Occasional rain and gales about the High Country with possible snow about the Passes. Afternoon showers about the coast, some heavy and possibly thundery. Buller, Westland and Fiordland Periods of rain, heavy at times, with squally thunderstorms and hail. Snow lowering to 200 metres in southern Fiordland tonight. Otago and Southland Showers, some heavy, with squally thunderstorms about coastal Southland and Clutha, and northwest gales in exposed places. Snow lowering to 200 metres tonight.
