Northland to Taranaki and Taumarunui, also Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and Taupo Showers, some heavy and possibly thundery with hail. Severe gale possible in Northland and Auckland on Thursday. Gisborne to Hawkes Bay Fine spells and the odd shower. Wanganui, Taihape, Manawatu Occasional showers. Kapiti, Wellington and Wairarapa, also Nelson, Buller and the Marlborough Sounds Occasional rain, but just the odd shower about northern Wairarapa until tomorrow evening. Southerlies rising to severe gale in exposed places tomorrow. Remainder of Marlborough, and Canterbury Rain, heavy at times, with snow lowering to 200 metres in Canterbury tonight and elsewhere tomorrow morning, then easing in south Canterbury tomorrow afternoon. Otago, Southland and southern Fiordland Showers, some heavy, with snow lowering to sea level tonight. Northern Fiordland and Westland Showers clearing from the south today, then fine spells.
