Recreational Marine: Kapiti Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 0130hrs Saturday 30-Mar-2024 by MetService Situation: A ridge of high pressure persists over the South Island during the forecast period. A low develops to the east of New Zealand early Saturday and directs a strong southeasterly flow over the North Island. Southeasterlies over the North Island ease on Sunday as the low pulls away to the northeast, and the ridge over the South Island spreads north. The ridge dominates on Monday, but a front approaches the South Island from the southwest later in the day, then weakens over the far south on Tuesday. Forecast issued at 2247hrs Friday 29-Mar-2024 Valid to 1 am Saturday for Inshore waters from Waitarere to Pukerua Bay and out to Kapiti Island. Strong wind advisory. Saturday: Southerly 25 knots gusting 35 knots, easing to 20 knots this morning and 10 knots this evening. Rough sea easing this morning. A few showers, clearing this morning.
