Nelson City Council-owned properties at risk from landslips, are up for sale

Nelson City Council-owned properties at risk from landslips, are up for sale

    2 May 2024
The 10 homes were bought by the council for six-point-seven million dollars last month.

They had originally planned to remediate three slips from public land in the area, as part of the 17.3 million dollar slip repair package.

Further rainfall meant the proposed fixes were no longer fit for purpose - and the council offered to buy the properties from homeowners in November.

Acting group manager of infrastructure, David Light says it will allow the council to install stormwater controls to protect the road and other homes.
