The Tourism Industry says a shift in focus to value over volume means fewer Chinese visitors to New Zealand

The Tourism Industry says a shift in focus to value over volume means fewer Chinese visitors to New Zealand

    12 June 2019
307-thousand people came to New Zealand in April, up 8.2-percent on the same period last year.

But just 36-thousand Chinese came here last month, down 21-percent on the same month last year.

Tourism Export Council of New Zealand chief executive Judy Chen says its not necessarily about the growth in numbers.

She says they want to make sure the visitor spend is growing at a higher rate than visitor numbers.
