18 September 2019
In the financial services sector there's an average gender pay gap of 23.7 percent - but after some investigation, Westpac realised its one is a lot higher - at 30.3 percent.
Westpac New Zealand boss David McLean says he was startled by the figure.
Auckland University marketing expert Mike Lee says the bank has some work to do.
He says the bank seems to be aiming to get more women into senior positions.
