New payments hope to encourage more farmers to meet the environment and animal expectations

From June, Fonterra will pay up to 10 cents of each farm's milk payment if they meet the standards for producing sustainable, high quality milk as part of the Co-operative Difference framework.
Farm Source Group Director Richard Allen says while the framework was introduced in 2019, the milk payment is new to farmers.
He says this will reward and recognise people who have already made moves to farm more sustainability.
