A Christchurch resident plagued by midges - doubts a new council strategy will deal with the problem

A Christchurch resident plagued by midges - doubts a new council strategy will deal with the problem

The city council's released a 300-thousand dollar strategy targeting the
Bromley wastewater treatment plant midges - including physically disturbing the
channel beds of larvae and planting vegetation.

City Services general manager Dave Adamson says vegetation will screen midges
attracted to the nearest light source - when they emerge from water at dawn or
    dusk.

But Janet Profit says midges don't just emerge from the water at dawn and
dusk - they're there all the time.
