The run of tragedies began on Friday night when an 18-year-old woman died in a single-car crash following a police pursuit in Christchurch.
On Saturday four motorcyclists died, in three separate crashes within four hours.
Yesterday, one person died in a crash in Rotorua... just hours before one person was seriously injured and six others taken to hospital in a separate crash in the Tasman district. And there was a serious two-car crash near Kaeo in the Far North. The crashes have bumped this year's current road toll above last year's and road safety experts say New Zealand's on track to have its worst year in over a decade.
