    Motorists are being warned to take care as wild weather disrupts South Island driving


    Snow is affecting State Highway 8 on the Lindis Pass and State Highway 73 from Springfield to Arthurs Pass.

    Chains are essential and both are closed to towing vehicles.

    State Highway 94 Te Anau to Milford is open but chains are essential.

    State Highway 8 between Millers Flat and Roxburgh is closed due to flooding.

    Many roads in Otago are being buffeted by strong winds including State Highway one from Dunedin to Gore.
