Dunedin Council staff and contractors are continuing to deal with issues caused by the wild weather.
Infrastructure services manager Simon Drew says most floodwater has receded - but surface water is expected to stick around for some time.
He says more rain is expected next week, so they're closely monitoring conditions.
Middlemarch residents are still being advised to avoid drinking water from private bores - as it is likely to be contaminated by overflowing sewage from the town's wastewater system.
Water is available from a tanker besides the Strath-Taieri Community Centre.
And Councils across the south are urging motorists to pay close attention to signs - with dozens of roads still closed.
