Upper North Island ports are inefficient ... and work against each other
Upper North Island ports are inefficient ... and work against each other
27 April 2019
An interim report looking at the ports of Auckland, Tauranga and Northport found they're critical for New Zealand's freight movements.
The government has expressed support for a move of Auckland Port away from the CBD ... and the working group behind the report found this could have benefits for the community and environment.
However a move to Northland would not be recommended... unless the government was willing to heavily invest in rail and roading infrastructure between Northland and Auckland.
