18 year old Alexander David James Grant pleaded guilty last year after being caught driving with alcohol four times the legal limit.
Today, a Dunedin District court listened as his song about remorse played, which Judge Michael Turner requested after hearing about the teen's musical talent.
Grant also completed a course showing dangerous drivers possible repercussions of their actions.
Judge Turner says the impact of a conviction on the defendant would be harsh - given the lengths he's gone to show remorse.
