Footy is taking a back seat as the Warriors work through their NRL season options

Footy is taking a back seat as the Warriors work through their NRL season options

    - article from www.rugbyleague.co.nz

The club will camp on the Gold Coast to prepare and play their round two match against Canberra, due to coronavirus-related travel restrictions.

Club boss Cameron George says families are their biggest priority.

Following this weekend, the NRL will re-evaluate the competition's fate.

On the field... Manly's lost 18-4 to Melbourne while the Wests Tigers beat St George-Illawarra 24-14.

The Wellington Phoenix have confirmed they will travel to Australia tomorrow, despite strict border controls.

Those mean the Phoenix will need to enter a two-week isolation period, which will postpone their football fixtures against Sydney and Newcastle.

The Phoenix have gained their fourth consecutive win in the A-League, beating the Melbourne Victory 3-nil at home.

Super Rugby players suddenly have free time on their hands with the competition's suspension.

Blues midfielder Rieko Ioane says weekdays might now be "a bit boring" with no NBA basketball on to soak up the time.

In what will be the final game for some time, the Brumbies have beaten the Waratahs 47-14 in Canberra.

Northern Mystics defender Sulu Fitzpatrick has marked her 100th match with a victory over a cross-town rival.

Her side's opened its ANZ netball premiership season with a 59-55 win over the Northern Stars in Auckland.

The defending champion Central Pulse have beaten the Mainland Tactix 53-41 in Blenheim.

Perth have snatched a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five Australian NBL basketball finals series.

They've secured a 111-96 away victory over the Kings in Sydney.

All three games so far have been won by the away team.

Home court advantage has been neutralised by the matches being played behind closed doors.

The NFL is set to increase its regular season from 16 to 17 games.

The new collective bargaining agreement involving nearly 2000 votes has passed with a 60-vote margin.

2021 is the earliest the regular season will adjust, but an expanded play-off field of 14 teams is likely next season.

The Tokyo Olympic Games flame handover in Athens will be done in an empty stadium amid coronavirus concerns.

Greece has cancelled the remainder of the domestic torch relay through the country to avoid attracting crowds.

The Games, which are due to start on July 24, are apparently still on.
