Tauranga couple Tina and Graham are among 16 New Zealanders who were trapped on the Greg Mortimer cruise ship in Uruguay.
Out of 217 passengers, crew and staff, 128 tested positive for the virus - including Tina, who is recovering well without any medical attention.
Tina and Graham, along with most of the other Kiwis who had been onboard the cruise ship, arrived in Auckland yesterday, via a chartered medevac flight from Melbourne.
Graham says things became unusual, when a passenger started to show a temperature.
He says the cruise liner then decided to follow the World Health Organisation's guidelines, and lock down the ship.
