After a housewarming party in the Wellington suburb of Mount Cook in December last year, a man entered a room where the two women were sleeping and sexually assaulted them.
Detective Constable Vince Smylie told TVNZ's Police 10-7 programme, they found DNA evidence from an inspection at the Mount Cook house.
He says the profile from the unknown male in this case links to a profile from an unsolved Auckland case in 2016.
Vince Smylie says they believe the man is responsible for all three assaults.
