Alexandra Breckenridge never felt like she fit in among the "young Hollywood crowd"

The 38-year-old actress - who has starred in TV shows like 'American Horror Story' and 'The Walking Dead' - has admitted to feeling out of place in Hollywood, revealing she always feared "saying the wrong thing and being rejected"

She shared: "I never felt like I fit in with the young Hollywood crowd. [I] was sometimes so shy, people thought I was a snob but really I was scared of saying the wrong thing and being rejected."

Alexandra spent almost two decades living in Los Angeles as she pursued her career ambitions.

But the actress has recently relocated to Georgia, where she's embracing a different lifestyle.

She told Us Weekly: "I lived in Los Angeles for 19 years while pursuing my career and just moved to a farm in rural Georgia. I love living in the forest."

Alexandra has played the role of Melinda 'Mel' Monroe in the Netflix series 'Virgin River' since 2019.

But before she accepted the part in the show, Alexandra feared she wasn't "edgy enough for Netflix".

The actress explained: "When I was offered the role of Mel in 'Virgin River', I thought it wasn’t edgy enough for Netflix and that no one would watch it. I was very, very wrong."

Alexandra has been able to indulge some of her big passions, like baking, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

But the TV star - who has also voiced various characters in 'Family Guy' - sometimes feels as though she was "born in the wrong era".

Speaking about some of her hobbies, Alexandra shared: "I love baking bread and making quilts. Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong era."
