He has announced a low-interest loan policy his Government would offer to doctors and nurse practitioner to set up practices.

Hipkins has unveiled the election promise at the party's Auckland conference.

He says it is a pragmatic and sensible policy, based off what he has been hearing from the sector.

Hipkins says many medical students will soon be entering the workforce - and they need attractive opportunities to stay in New Zealand.
