Christchurch's Haeata Community Campus is supporting students, over the death of a teen after an accident on a school ice-skating trip

The 13-year-old was injured at Alpine Ice on Tuesday, and the school confirmed her death on social media this morning.

Principal Peggy Burrows says the girl was a beloved member of the school community.

She says they understand the tragedy will affect many students - and counselling's available through their Hauora team.

A family member has also posted announcing the death on social media.
