    A Bay of Plenty police officer has been stood down and charged with accessing a police intelligence system unlawfully

    A Bay of Plenty police officer has been stood down and charged with accessing a police intelligence system unlawfully


    The accused denies the charges and has been granted interim name suppression until trial.

    The officer is also charged with making a false or misleading statement for the purpose of helping a man obtain a New Zealand passport.

    They have pleaded not guilty to seven charges and elected trial by jury.

    The officer has been stood down pending the outcome of the court case.
